Get ready for the new semester! What should TNIC freshmen know before coming?

As the new semester approaches, many students may feel excited to experience something totally new at Thai-Nichi International College (TNIC). If you are curious and want to know more about this college, we recommend reading this article because we have gathered what you should know before you start your college life here in this article.

Location

Thai-Nichi International College (TNIC) is located at Building E of Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology on Pattanakarn Road. We need to highlight that we are on Pattanakarn Road and not close to Thai-Japan Bangkok Youth Center on Din Daeng Road. If you mistakenly go there, you will have to travel 12 kilometers more to our college. Well, you know that traffic in Bangkok is miserable, so you should plan your trip unless you are late.

If you are not sure whether the destination is the right place, try searching “Thai-Nichi International College” on Google Maps or click this link. The nearest train station to TNIC is MRT Yellow Line – Hua Mak Station and Airport Rail Link – Hua Mak Station.

The 3rd floor of Building E is the headquarter of TNIC where the offices of Dean, Associate Dean, and faculty members are located. On the same floor, there are also common areas for students such as Student Lounge, Pantry Room, bathrooms, conference rooms, and etc.

On the 4th floor, laboratories are available for practical usage of each program, from Digital Engineering (DGE), Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSA) to International Business and Entrepreneurship (IBN), as well as computer labs for general program practices.

Classrooms for TNIC are all around the 3rd and the 4th floors of Building E, while the library is on the 2nd.

Neighborhood

There are a number of student dormitories around TNIC. Some are so close to the college that we can walk to the class. Not far from TNIC, there are shopping centers and supermarkets for all you need. In case of sickness, you don’t have to worry because the nearest hospital is only about 10 minutes away from the college. Most importantly, you can easily get to Suvarnabhumi International Airport by taking the Airport Rail Link.

Preparation for TNIC

At TNIC, we are more than just an educational institution. From our seniors, juniors, to lecturers or even our staff, we all care about each other as if we are one family. Therefore, if you come to TNIC and still can’t adapt to college life, feel curious, worried, or have something you want to share, everyone around you is always ready to listen.

If you would like to meet TNIC current students in each program before studying, there is TNIC Open House Camp which allows you to explore your interests through activities and have direct conversations with the seniors. There will be other activities organized by TNIC as well to share knowledge, culture, and fun in a Japanese-international style.

You can also get to know your peers through the fundamental summer classes before college starts. This allows you to meet both your classmates and friends from other programs.

Uniforms

In terms of uniforms, TNIC does not require what to wear to classes, even pajamas are allowed. This excepts for official ceremonies or important events that you are instructed to wear TNIC’s uniform. There are 3 types of uniforms here: student uniform, gakuran, and workshop uniform.

The men’s student uniform is a white long-sleeved shirt, a black tie with the institute’s brooch, black slacks, a black belt with the institute’s logo buckle, and socks. Black loafers or sneakers are acceptable.

The women’s student uniform is a white short-sleeved shirt with the institute’s brooch pinned on the right chest. Every button is covered with metal with the institute’s logo. Short straight skirt, brown belt with buckle of the institute’s logo. Black pumps or sneakers are acceptable.

Gakuran is a unique uniform of the institute because it resembles the winter uniform of Japanese students. Both men and women wear gakurans during important ceremonies by putting on black long-sleeved overcoats over their student uniforms. All the buttons up.

The workshop uniform is an essential uniform of Engineering students to be used while studying in a lab. The workshop uniform is dark scarlet, embroidered with TNIC’s logo on the right chest and DGE program on the left pocket.

Preparation for the admission exam

At TNIC, no TCAS scores are required to apply for our programs. Instead, you must pass our direct admission processes. There are 3 subjects that we use for direct admission examination: Mathematics, English, and Computer skills. We recommend you to visit TNIC’s Facebook to learn more about what to prepare. If you don’t get good exam scores, don’t worry that you won’t be able to study here. We provide fundamental adjustment courses for you to study before college starts.

Advice from seniors

“Actually, I don’t have any advice to give. This college facilitates us in many ways and makes us feel comfortable. If you want to improve your Japanese skills, you can come and learn the fundamentals in the summer. During summer, TNIC teaches fundamental Mathematics, English, and Japanese. If you are not confident in or not good at any subject, you can come and study from basic first.” – Den from IBN program

“Actually, it’s enough to prepare your mind (jokingly). For those who are not very confident in English, you may try to review the course content briefly by asking the seniors or the lecturers. You can also see the list of subjects in your program from the TNIC website to get a brief idea of the topics you will study. But don’t worry too much. When you come to class and feel that you couldn’t keep up or get the content, you can feel free to ask the lecturers. They are very kind. The friend’s community is good as well, and they always help each other.” – Pai from DSA program

“Mainly, I want you to study to the fullest before coming to the exam. Be confident in yourself. And then, try to find inspiration for yourself by exploring what new things you want to create, what you see potential to improve, and what you want to develop by yourself. Keep your desire to learn more, to grow more, and to make more changes with you. Then unleash them here. Another thing I would like to recommend is that bacon rice with salt and chili at Building D is very delicious. LOL” – Potter from DGE program
